'SafeScan' of the leftovers
Rajni | Jul 30 2009

You’ve had your meal and find that many dishes are left, so what do you do? Obviously put them in the fridge. What if you forget the leftovers you kept in the refrigerator? It goes bad; you take it out and taste it…yuck! The SafeScan food preservation system could help you in this case. The brainchild of Joshua Howard, this little gadget has radio frequency identification technology tags embedded in the lids linked to the scanner and displays to let the user watch out.

You just gotta press the scan button and let the scanner know what kind of food is being stored in the container, then put it on a timer that is recorded in the scanner. Sensors in the container sync with the scanner that alert the user when the leftovers are no longer edible. What do you do with it when not in use? Mount it to the refrigerator with the magnet attached to the back of the unit, as simple as that.
