Philips shows off cinema-proportioned LCD at CES 2009
Rajni | Jan 16 2009

Taking widescreen TV a step further, Philips kicked off the launch of its Cinema 21:9 HDTV line at CES 2009. Claiming to be the world’s first cinema-proportioned LCD it will have a 56-inch display and poses to handle 16:9 content and fill the screen.

What’s different? Cinema 21:9 HDTV with Ambilight technology around the borders, no more big black borders on the top and bottom of your screen is what makes it the ultimate LCD to watch movies on. It’s a fair deal for those who can’t fit a projector and 100-inch screen into their media rooms.

Price and availability: The Company says it’ll be available this spring in Germany, Belgium, the UK and France. For now, there are no pricing details and no US release date.
