Nurus ‘4U’ seating unit wins red dot design award 2009

For Nurus, this year seems to be really fruitful. The firm has already received its first design award in 2009 for the ‘Sema’ table and now, they have grabbed the red dot design award 2009 for the 4U, a new seating unit that turned heads in Orgatec 08. The sofa is designed to encourage social interaction at any place it’s placed.

What’s different?

Although, the ‘4U’ sofa primarily targets public places, it would be a great addition to any contemporary home. It allows people to sit back to back, face to face or at times, side to side, thanks to the backrests that form the seating cells in changeable dimensions. The backrest geometry of the seating unit makes for an interesting structure, which is quite contrary to its base square silhouette.
