Breakthrough in solar technology can make almost everything to absorb and create energy

We all have realized the importance of ‘going green’ and even have started moving towards smarter and green methods. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have invested $4.7 million to develop technology which would allow building applications to be converted into solar panels, so as to go and get greener. NIST has also released funds for two companies named Konarka Technologies and Air Products, under the Advanced Technology Program (ATP) to create building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technology.

The companies will develop the patented metallic grid electrode technology for the new cell and module structural design while Air Products aims to develop high-conductivity polymers, which will be more efficient as per Organic photovoltaic (OPV) cells. If the project gets through, the technology will be used in windows, which will be then capable of gaining an infra red spectrum. The energy gathered then can be used in the lighting, heating system and other such systems. This would be a breakthrough in the field of technology and would be undoubtedly welcome by all those who have understood the importance of going eco-conscious now.
