Helios lighting system may help elderly sleep better and prevent falls
Jaiyant Cavale | Sep 2 2008

Lighting is extremely important in managing a person’s circadian rhythm and sleep cycles. Melatonin has a way with the dark and sleeping during the night is especially important. Elderly people need better lighting systems that cater to their needs and thus, Helios system comes to rescue. This system allows the elderly to avoid falls and bad sleep. Helios requires a wall sconce, night-light and a system specific light switch. The Helios system utilizes motion-sensors, which help the elderly to move around without having to turn on the primary lights. Daytime lighting therapies help them to get adjusted to the body’s biological clock and hence they can lead a healthy and safe life. The lights would change according to different times of the day. Helios might just be the answer for old people’s travails.
